Smartphone from Africa
The world of technology is usually dominated by the U.S. or Asia, like Apple, Samsung, and others. Do not want to be left the gadget business, African continent now start making their own gadget and they started producing smartphones that is named Elikia, which means "hope" in African languages.
The Smartphone is manufactured by electronics companies from republic of Congo VMK. Elikia is a touch screen mobile phone with 3.5 inch screen, 650 MHz processor, 5 MP rear camera, 512 MB of RAM, VGA front camera, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
"Funds that already out for smartphone development is USD 120 thousand", said Verone Mankou (CEO of VMK). VMK is based in Congo is still assembles their products in China, because according to Verone, China's is easier to get the components they want, also can reduce the cost of production so that the phone price can be sold with economical price is USD 170.
